Dave Clarkson Memorial Scholarship

Dave Clarkson Memorial Scholarship

In honor and remembrance of Dave Clarkson’s passion, dedication and impact on the accounting profession through his service in public accounting, academia and volunteerism, the MSCPA Educational Foundation is proud to dedicate a $10,000 scholarship annually in his memory. Dave was a former MSCPA board member and a longtime board member of the Education Foundation. The David J. Clarkson, CPA, Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need in the pursuit of a career in public accounting in Massachusetts.

A few of our RSM colleagues worked with the MSCPA to try to do something meaningful in Dave’s memory.  What a great way to honor Dave’s legacy and all he did for the profession over the years. In many ways Dave transcended the firms he was associated with and impacted people in the profession more broadly- namely students—countless numbers that went on to successful careers and leadership roles who he often continued to advise and mentor along the way.  It seems fitting he is memorialized by a real scholarship for a deserving student.    This is not an endowed award—the society raises funds annually into a pool and then earmarks them accordingly. They have agreed to do this in Dave’s honor each year with the hope that those willing to help the profession remember Dave will support it in some way.   This is their largest scholarship  ($10,000) named specifically for a single individual. Also fitting to the man it honors.

Since Dave meant so much to this Firm and brought so many of us to it, the Foundation Board approved a 50% match on all donations to this scholarship, up to a $10,000 contribution.

If you have not yet made a contribution, please pay the RSM Boston Foundation and then we will make one combined contribution to the scholarship fund.

If you have already made a contribution, please let Colleen Boyce know what amount you contributed.  The Foundation will match these funds as well.
